The first steps...

Publicados: 09.03.2018

The very first step after making the decision is relatively easy. You click a few times with the mouse, type in a few fields, and at the end you still get a short shock because of the previously calculated sum. Click on submit and you're in. What I personally thought was really great was the 'Carepacket' that arrived about a week later (after official project confirmation by email): a folder with information, to-do lists, and travel tips!

When I looked at the to-do list, I realized that I still had a lot to do. Send passport copies, gather travel documents, apply for and translate a certificate of good conduct, apply for a visa (by far the most time-consuming), and check the validity of the passport and ID.

I had booked the flight in early February - with Singapore Airlines. It will definitely be an adventure in itself!

For the visa, I researched online in advance and collected all the documents required. These included: a passport photo, a three-page completed application form, an invitation letter, and a copy of the ID card of the person who signed it (sent to me by Praktikawelten), a financial guarantee from my parents, round-trip flight tickets, and my passport including a copy of the first page. The application process itself is fairly simple - either by mail or, like me, personally at an Indonesian embassy.

Next week, I can pick up my visa.

I also got myself a folder that I will take on the flight with my documents and copies, and so on. In addition, I have two travel guides about Bali to get a first impression and collect ideas for things I can do in my free time on site :)

See you!
