Journey to Elliston

Publicados: 07.04.2019

When we wake up in the national park, unfortunately everything is cloudy again. It's incredible how extremely the image of the bay changes, from a bright green to black-blue.

Back in the town of Coffin Bay, we refill our water reserves and take a walk along the Oyster Walk. It takes us between the sea and holiday homes around the inlet where the town is located. But without the sun, it doesn't look as beautiful as it did yesterday after the oyster tour. We take advantage of the clouds to travel a few more kilometers to the northwest.

Our first significant stop is Locks Well Beach. When we arrive, the sky is still cloudy, but you can see the wind quickly blowing the clouds further away. And indeed, half an hour later, the sunny beach is all ours. It is nestled in tall rugged cliffs, and the sand has a rare golden-brown color here. The surf is very strong and creates an awe-inspiring but atmospheric atmosphere. The beach also looks good from the viewpoint above.

A few kilometers further, we arrive in Elliston, a small nest with exemplary facilities on the town beach.

From there, the Elliston Cliff Top Drive starts, which lives up to its name and follows the cliffs high above the sea. Sculptures are installed at some viewpoints. It's a beautiful combination, and we definitely like the drive more than expected. At the far northern tip of the drive, at Cape Finniss, we leave the car behind and enjoy the sunset from there. We are captivated by the atmosphere up here on the cliffs, so we set up our camp here for the night. Above us, there is again a breathtaking starry sky.
