After the 'luxury week' at the surf camp, we went back to our beloved camper.
After a few weeks of abstinence, the time had come again to have a good time. So we drove to the infamous party place Byron Bay, where coincidentally thousands of Australian students were celebrating their graduation.
Well equipped with the Tetrapak wine known as Goon, we hit the slopes. In the club Cheecky Monkeys, where the DJ met our taste in music as well as the one at the Larry in Sydney, we coincidentally met two guys again whom we had met one evening in Sydney. Oh, how small the world is.
After two more party nights, it was time to move on. So we drove to the next big city, called Gold Coast.
However, there we were caught by a park ranger with a set-up bed and of course immediately expelled, so we spent the night at a highway rest stop.
The next morning we continued to Brisbane, the first touch of civilization after weeks of driving through provinces. There we visited our former classmates Pina and Rahel. But since Brisbane, like every city, wants to make a profit from poor backpackers, we couldn't park for free there either, so we moved further north to the next highway rest stop. Where the next morning, after a long time, we treated ourselves to a shower, but for lack of alternatives, under a tap, that's backpacker life.
Until finally the brilliant idea came to us to buy a hose that can be attached to taps. So we have secured an acceptable body odor for the next time, at least until the laundry needs to be done again.
After we immerse ourselves in Brisbane's nightlife tomorrow, we will continue towards Fraser Island, where we will report back.
