Life from Western Australia:
While the northern hemisphere should gradually become summery, winter is slowly approaching the west coast of Australia. Currently, temperatures of 33 degrees during the day and 19 degrees at night characterize the days and provide pleasant t-shirt or less weather.
As Professor Wagner, our on-site reporter, reports, this is a casual vacation weather, especially for camping and swimming. As he reports, it is important to apply sunscreen well and not to stay in the sun for too long. However, all these weather conditions also bring some negative side effects that are not uncommon... As reported, under such circumstances, forest and bush fires are occasionally sighted, whose occurrence can be identified from a distance as the only black cloud far and wide, as well as by the smell in the air, according to Wagner.
Our faithful reporter adds first-hand that from time to time a fly invasion has taken over the rule of the country and is currently strongly tyrannizing the peaceful citizens. In addition to the fact that flies are the most seen animal among campers from high and far, they are not spared either. Countless incidents in recent weeks confirm this, with many people complaining about the annoying crawling in the ear or the hard landing on the eyelids of these little culprits and current rulers, and as a result, showing signs of anger and annoyance. But when evening comes and darkness falls, one can relax a bit and enjoy the fly-free time. In the question of what people are like in Australia, Wagner and his companion Würsch agree: friendliness, helpfulness, openness, and serenity are abundant among the Australian people. Ways of dealing with each other that should be used more frequently in Switzerland as well.
However, there are always exceptions. And funny things also happen often, says Wagner. Two days ago, a couple was observed making a fire. What was majestic about it was that the two underestimated the burnability of the dry branches to such an extent that the fire, which was only two minutes old, lost its romantic side in panic, under the beam of the fire extinguisher. Another funny incident in the field of security also quickly came to mind for our reporter: Allegedly, two young ladies have discovered a new invention to ward off the flying pests, which is still under development but will soon be almost patented and likely make the conventional fly net disappear completely. In fact, it remains to be imagined only in the mind's eye how these two young ladies flailed flies free with sticks. Well...
At the moment, rarer animals can also be found on the west coast of Australia, such as the swimming colossi on their way south. The so-called whale sharks can be accompanied by snorkelers on their long journey towards the South Pole with various tour operators, even if only for a little bit. So if you ever have the opportunity to visit these up to 10-meter-long, peaceful giant fish on the west coast of Australia, you should definitely take advantage of it. As Wagner describes, such an experience is unforgettable and breathtaking.
With that in mind, dear readers, I thank you for your attention and look forward to a new report from our on-site reporter soon.
