On the paths of the Fjällmarathon

Today we have another wonderful and sunny day ahead of us. Since we no longer have any dedicated desired locations on our wish list, we simply look for the nearest large lake and drive there on the off chance 🤭.

So today we end up in Ottsjö more by chance.

On our hike along the lake we see small campfire areas with built-in barbecue stations everywhere. Here in Sweden you can find such a storage area on every corner. What would be absolutely unthinkable in Germany is apparently part of the standard of living here. Because most of the places are actually in use. We look for a quiet little corner a little away from the fireplaces.

It's too good how they're all lined up there 😂.

After a short stretch through the forest we find very familiar markings. Apparently there is another distance at the local Fjällmarathon. Our route is marked by the familiar poles with black plaques and red markings. So we hike along the 12km Marche 🤭.

The lake is picturesquely beautiful 🥰. It's really crazy that it looks like this on almost every corner.

During our walk we had the idea that it was actually warm enough to go kayaking today. So we decide without further ado to head back and drive to Are again.

But before that, of course, the dogs have to be properly exercised. Good thing they love retrieving sticks from the water 🤭

Meanwhile, Jive is beaming from ear to ear 🤭. Definitely a trip to your liking.

Without further ado, the dogs were brought back to the accommodation and we were already on our way to Are. Renting via Kayakomat - everything is better with omat - was problem-free thanks to the credit card and online platform. However, we can only book the kayak at the beginning of a full hour. So that we don't have to wait there, we're giving away the first 20 minutes 😅.

I know you should never break through the fourth level unless you are the director of Money Heist, but the name Kayakomat makes me very unsure how to actually spell kayak 😂. I'll stick to my first intuition and take the j.

The water is still quite cool. But at least the ambient temperature is 25 degrees today 🤗. But we shouldn't fall in anyway 😅.

In any case, we decided against the individual and for the tandem kayak. If we go down, we'll do it together.

In total we are 3 hours on the beautiful lake at the feet of Ares. The waves were sometimes quite rocky. But we managed not to capsize 🤗. Of course we took one or the other photo on the water.

The lake is definitely looking friendlier today than during Tuesday's wind and rain.

In one photo, Ian had to keep paddling to keep us from getting parallel to the waves. 😂

We are very happy that we dared to go on the water today 🥰.

After our paddling trip, we have to deal with another side quest. Of course, the found winter postcard for Tobias and Julia still has to be in the mail.

After a short research we learn that Sweden does not have its own post office. But in the end we made it anyway.

When we go shopping, we also stock up for our Roattripp. In the candy shelf we find Marabou cookies 🤩. Cool. Unfortunately, they all have to come along 😂. Why don't we actually have them in DE? Tzzzzz
