Day 23, 24 and 25 Santa Marta- Tayrona National Park

Publicados: 14.01.2023

Yesterday morning we sat down in a café to plan the next few days. But I wasn't able to concentrate on it yet. Farina then suggested that I go back to the hotel. Done. There I continued writing my blog and rested. When Farina showed up at some point, she mainly took care of organizing our plans.

In the evening I got hungry again and felt better.

Day 24

This morning we had to wait for our laundry until 11:00. Fortunately, we didn't have to check out until 13:00. In the laundry room, we received our bag, then a big sorting out. Afterwards, we took a taxi to the Tayrona National Park entrance. It took almost 60 minutes. The taxis are not expensive, even though fuel prices are similar to those in Germany. The beaches of Tayrona National Park are among the most beautiful in the country. From a certain point on, you can only walk or take a horse taxi. The beaches are connected by hiking trails. Today we walked about 1 hour to our campsite with full luggage, up and down. 💪. You can either go in for just one day or stay overnight in rather simple accommodations. For us, there was the option of a tent, which we booked the day before yesterday for 3 nights.

The clear water of Tayrona glistens in front of a jungle that seems to rush down the slopes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta like a green avalanche. Palm trees line the picturesque white sandy beach littered with huge boulders. It is the highest coastal mountain range in the world.

Day visitors can only enter the park from 9:00. Tomorrow morning we will walk to Capo San Juan at 6:00 to avoid the crowds. During the day, this stretch of beach is probably the most crowded. You can also swim there. Our campsite is at Arrecife Beach, where swimming is prohibited due to strong currents.

Day 25 Camping all inclusive 😐

There is not much choice for food here. So we more or less had to visit the restaurant at the campsite. The Google reviews (food poisoning), Friday the 13th, not good signs. We both had a vegetarian lasagna and.......had diarrhea tonight. Luckily, there was still enough toilet paper (there is none left today). Completely weak, we set off for Cabo San Juan at 6:00. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed. But I still believe that you don't have to travel so far for beautiful beaches. The tents at the campsite there looked like a refugee camp. It's a good thing we were there early and hadn't been on our feet for too long. After that, breakfast again in the parasite restaurant. We only had toast with jam. In the late morning, we then decided to stay overnight only once more. We'd rather stay an extra day in Santa Marta.

We spent the rest of the day at the neighboring beach, splashing in the sea and enjoying the almost empty beach.
