Rural Sweden & Americanized Subculture

ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ: 30.07.2022

Today we first took a half-day bath and relaxation with Sina. Since we turn off the inland of Sweden to Norway, we decided to swim in the Baltic Sea again.

That was not so easy, because the coast is characterized by wood and heavy industry. Finding a nice bathing place is therefore a challenge without local knowledge.

Finally - and with the help of Google Maps - we were able to discover something nice to the delight of the children. The water is quite cool despite the warm weather. But no problem with neoprene!

In the evening we were in a small, very rural town that reminded more of the rough wild west than Pippi Longstocking in terms of architecture and customs :-)

There was a small rock concert in the town. The hustle and bustle was an interesting experience, and after the teenagers turned off their 5000 watt car sound system, we could even sleep ;-) The children watched the whole thing very attentively.

Julius also discovered that the police could punish the young people for 3 offenses: (1) loud music listening next to the campsite, (2) 2 teenagers riding in the trunk, and (3) drinking beer and driving.

Apparently, there is a strong Americanized subculture in Sweden. McDonald's on every corner, American cars everywhere, many pubs in the 60s style, etc.

But today we urgently continue northwest. There are still 1100km left.
