Welcome to the jungle

ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ: 20.04.2017

When we wake up, it is pouring rain. We had planned to continue to Cape Tribulation in the rainforest today, but is it even worth it in this weather? Probably not.

We have breakfast in the cramped confines of our camper and wait. When we leave, the weather improves and we decide to go on the excursion to 'Cape Trib' (as they say in Australia). We cross the Daintree River with a small car ferry and find ourselves in the jungle. The Daintree is the world's oldest tropical rainforest and simply incredible. The road leads right through the rainforest and ends at Cape Tribulation after about an hour. At Cape Trib, a peninsula where the tropical rainforest meets the fine sandy beach and the Pacific Ocean, we all agree that the trip was worth it. It has stopped raining by now and the sun is even partly out. We walk along the beach and enjoy the scenery.

After a few hours in the jungle, we head back towards civilization and reach Port Douglas in the early afternoon. This city and a campsite were also recommended to us by the Danes. Since we have never been disappointed by their recommendations so far, we check in at the campsite and feel comfortable right away. The campsite is within walking distance of the city center and only 5 minutes from the beach. But since the weather is not particularly good, we decide to spend our last day as campers in Port Douglas tomorrow.
