Nanaimo is the second largest city here on Vancouver Island, but as you may have noticed: the journey is the destination. It's never really about the city, but always about the stops along the way or the landscape along the way.
On the way to Nanaimo we stopped at Elk Falls and Myra Falls, both of which were two beautiful little hikes to waterfalls. I really liked Myra Falls. The height of Elk Falls was also very impressive! Then we went to the Airbnb and checked out the nearby park “Neck Point” with a view of Vancouver. On the second day we looked at Nanaimo itself, which was relatively manageable. We walked the entire promenade and even saw a celebration of the indigenous community, which was held in a park in memory of the missing children. Afterwards, due to heavy rain, we actually went to a microbrewery again. It's always nice in itself, but the prices in this one were absolutely overpriced. But they also had really special beers. I had a pine-flavored beer, two sour beers (1x peach, 1x blood orange) and a basil beer. Accordingly, we spent the afternoon there and played games. In the evening we went home, where we found out that our accommodation in Vancouver was unfortunately no longer habitable.. that was stressful at first and needed clarification 😅 Thank God we were able to sort it out quickly and had new accommodation the next day at noon 👍🏼
