Twelfth Stop: Christchurch

ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ: 16.01.2019

Christchurch may have been a few days ago, but I still remember everything... For Christmas, we booked a hotel because we thought, 'We want to spend Christmas nicely, and there's too much going on in a hostel.' On 20/12/2018, we flew from Wellington to Christchurch, and it was really relaxed. However, we had to get up at 4.30 am and go to the airport because the flight was already at 7.50 am. In Christchurch, we started by having breakfast at the airport and then took the bus to the city or rather to our hotel. A week in a hotel was completely different from staying in a hostel. I was really glad to have some privacy again. We quickly made our plan for Christmas:

1. Go to church (a little sense of home)

2. Eat sushi (Elli and I are sushi lovers)

3. Then go to a bar.

The evening was really nice and fun. But it didn't feel like Christmas, so the longing for my loved ones at Christmas wasn't as strong as I had thought. The bar we went to wasn't exactly the right place for two teenagers to have a bit of fun on Christmas 🤷🏼‍♀️

In the following days, we explored Christchurch, and we fell in love with it. The city is so beautiful and tells its own story.

For New Year's Eve, we went to a hostel so that we could be among people and celebrate with them. Dressed up and with great enthusiasm to celebrate, we went to Hagley Park. When we arrived, we found a stage with good music and many people dancing, so we also danced 💃🏼 Then the countdown started - Happy New Year! Unfortunately, everything was already over at 0.10 am, and we were on our way back to our hostel. We had another beer and went to bed around 2 am. It was definitely a different start to the new year. But it will definitely stay in my memory!

Even if it's very late from me, but I hope you had a good start to the new year 🍀🥂
