The day starts off well. Del, our host, makes us smoothies for breakfast and gives us a lot of tips about our travel route.
We take the bus down to downtown Queenstown. The bus driver chats with us. We understand, How long you are here, best ticket... and eventually we end up with the best ticket.
We have to listen carefully to the New Zealand slang. (abbreviate words and add an I at the end)
Down in the city, we take the gondola up to Queenstown Hill or Te Ta-pu-nui.
Up there, we have a stunning view of the city and Lake Wakatipu. The sun is shining and we are thrilled.
We see bungee jumpers plunging from a platform into the abyss (apparently invented here), mountain bikers racing down the mountain with their bikes, paragliders...
We quickly realize that there is a lot of sports and action going on here.
This is confirmed again down below. Many agencies offer numerous sports activities on high boards. Jo's eyes are sparkling!
But Queenstown is also expensive, as confirmed by a German student we met by the lake.
We inform ourselves about various excursions to Milford or Doubtful Sound. We want to go there with the girls tomorrow.
Speaking of girls, their arrival was truly spectacular. It was extremely windy at the airport in Queenstown and it was questionable whether the pilot could even land.
After a few anxious minutes, the plane came into sight and the landing was slanted, in the true sense of the word.
Jana and Maja, however, survived it well.
The joy of seeing each other again was and still is huge, and in the excitement at the airport, we completely forgot to take photos.
We then immediately set off for Te Anau, where we found accommodation on a reindeer and sheep farm. The four of us sleep in one room and are simply happy together.
