Due to the desert climate and irrigation possibilities by Andean water, various fruits and vegetables are cultivated around Arica (e.g. bananas, mangoes, passion fruits, tomatoes, olives, etc.).

On the way through the Atacama Desert to Bolivia
After a bus breakdown, five hours of failed repair attempts, a replacement bus, a closed border to Bolivia, and a cold night on the bus at 4300 dizzying meters above sea level at the border, we finally arrived in La Paz (Bolivia) with a delay of 18 hours.
