Ecuador - one of the most biodiverse countries in the world

The country, located on the equator, has so much more to offer besides the already mentioned and impressive regions of Galapagos and the Amazon.

It is one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth, hosting hundreds of endemic plant and animal species that can only be found here. How and why different species have evolved in their unique ways can be observed here better than anywhere else. It is no wonder that Charles Darwin developed his theory of evolution after his trip to the Galapagos Islands.

In addition to the rainforest in the east of the country and the islands in the west, there is also the coast and the mountains. Quito, the capital, is located at an altitude of 2,850 meters and is relatively low compared to other parts of the country. Along the Avenue of the Volcanoes in the Andes, one can climb various mountains that are 5,000 to 6,000 meters high and push their physical limits.
