19.9. Peggys Cove - shining over the sea

ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ: 22.09.2019

The night on the plane was short, early in the morning we reach Halifax (we set the clock 3 hours ahead again). We take over a large, very comfortable van: a 7-seater Toyota Sienna, booked at a reasonable price already in Germany with ADAC. It offers us enough space for the next 17 days and fulfills all our requirements. Outside, a bright blue sky welcomes us and we start from the airport heading south to St. Margaretes Bay.

In Peggys Cove on the Atlantic stands one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. We believe that immediately, considering the many tourists frolicking on the rocks. But we can't escape the great motif in the sun either. The quaint little fishing village itself has managed to preserve its original charm despite the hustle and bustle. Lobster is still mainly caught there today.

Close by is a memorial stone at the crash site of the Swissair plane in 1998.

We continue to drive along the beautiful coastal road to Halifax and stroll in the sun along the boardwalk on the waterfront.

On the coastal highway we make quick progress and are in today's quarter before sunset. The Salmon River Country Inn in Head of Jeddore is located directly on the river, has a few small but comfortable rooms and with the Mermaid Eatery a very good restaurant. The friendly German-speaking owners offer not only Canadian cuisine (excellent fish dishes) but also typical German dishes.

A beautiful day comes to an end with a picturesque sunset over the river.
