Enjoy and Preserve

After a delicious breakfast on our terrace today, we start the day with a walk along our house beach! We want to make the most of these last two days here in Maui by letting the sea breeze, the sound of the waves, and the early morning sunshine have an even stronger effect on us and savoring every moment...

I also thoroughly enjoy my penultimate visit to the Lahaina swimming pool, when will I be able to swim under the open sky again? I take some photos with the lifeguards, and one of them promises to take me surfing on my next Hawaii vacation - he even builds his own surfboards and seems to be a real pro. Definitely a reason (among thousands of others) to come back! I'm a little sad already thinking about tomorrow when I have to say 'Goodbye'!

In the afternoon, we spend time in 'Kihei', which is actually a popular tourist spot in Maui, but we still find it very charming. Since we are not here during the peak tourist season in Hawaii, we encounter many locals. Besides many white sandy beaches, we also notice the numerous food trucks here, offering a variety of culinary delights, very tempting. I could imagine having a lot of fun serving people of different nationalities with my own food truck, but I can't imagine making a living out of it... Maybe when I have earned enough money as a successful doctor and only need an occupation for my retirement...

On the way home, we experience the sunset, the second best one (besides the return trip from Hilo on Big Island) that we were allowed to admire here. So we have to stop at a beach section and just look at the sky; luckily, the road mostly runs along the ocean and we quickly find a bay to stop at!

At home, we have a delicious dinner and then start packing some things for the journey back, but we don't want to think about that yet. Instead, we look forward to another wonderful day here in Maui tomorrow!
