11th Day - July 19th: 'Route day' with a visit to the children's camp in Lanskroun

ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ: 20.07.2022

I got up relatively early on this day because I wanted to finally go on a 'route' again and ride at least 80km towards Olomouc. On the way, I wanted to visit the Protestant community in Lanskroun in the upper country. In total, there were almost 1000 meters of altitude to overcome on the route. It was mostly uphill until Lanskroun, but never extremely steep. Several times I had to push the heavy bike again in this typical mid-mountain landscape (photo) because I had to 'manage' my leg power throughout the day. I arrived in the small town of Lanskroun around noon and soon found the Protestant church. The pastor was there because he is currently conducting a children's summer camp in the rectory with a volunteer. He showed me his relatively modern church. On the walls, there are graphic wordplays with the words God and Jesus on the left and right (photos). I was allowed to briefly participate in the children's camp (photo) and after less than an hour, I continued. It was very hot. But I had already completed most of the altitude meters for the day and enjoyed a nearly 25km easy downhill ride to Zabreh (Hohenstadt) on the Morava River - a longer river in the Czech Republic with an international cycle path. Shortly before the city, I noticed a particularly large wayside cross where Christ is 'accompanied' by two angels on the left and right (photo). The afternoon became really hot, and cycling was exhausting, and I started sweating. I took an ice cream break and continued along the bike path towards Olomouc. Then the battery of my phone ran out and I had no more navigation. I cycled a little according to my geographical sense next to the busy main road and luckily found 'McDoof' where I could charge my phone a bit and then continue cycling. It wasn't until shortly before 9 pm that I found a nice place to camp right by the river. I decided to only have a 'cold meal' that evening and instead treat my overheated body to a refreshing bath in the river. It was a relief for my body. A little worn out from the day, I crawled into my tent. I took a look at the bike computer, which showed 105km for this day, and quickly fell asleep.
