Cows on Lantao Island

ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ: 06.08.2016

Hong Kong is known for its skyscrapers and a large number of people. This may be true, but actually 75% of Hong Kong is covered with country parks and nature reserves. These are home to a variety of species and, as you can see, cows as well. It is estimated that 1200 cattle live in the forests of Hong Kong.

Two friends of mine visited me in Hong Kong for a few days and I wanted to show them the Big Buddha and the famous Po Lin Monastery on Lantao Island. On our way home, we caught sight of a few cows just running along the street. This is actually quite common in Hong Kong, but for us, it was the highlight of the day. We could even stroke them and take some pictures with them.

Once more, this is an example of how many different sides and surprises Hong Kong can offer. You're just driving in a cab, next to you there are many cows hanging out on the streets, and 20 minutes later you are in the middle of one of the most modern cities in the world. I'm pretty sure Hong Kong is the only city worldwide where something like that can happen to you daily. ;)
