I probably couldn't decide what exactly I liked best about the place Calpe. Whether it was the well-developed bike paths, the steep cliffs with the moon coming out behind them, or the roaring sea. One thing is for sure, we really enjoyed it there.
In the evenings, we rode our bikes to the sea, where Rob jumped from a rock and swam about 500m in the cold water to the beach. I was approached twice by Spaniards who asked me if I knew the person in the water and what he was up to. Many people watched him and admired his apparent resistance to the cold
After this experience in Calpe, we continued to Murcia the next morning and parked right next to a beautiful church. From there, we had a great view of the whole city. When we wanted to enjoy the view again in the evening, we suddenly heard singing. Since it was already dark and raining, we couldn't initially understand what was going on until we saw the people gathered for the church service, making their way up to the church on Good Friday. They stopped repeatedly to sing. This was a very interesting spectacle that I had never seen before.
Since the weather didn't improve, we decided to drive to Bolnuevo the next day, where we met our English friends again. It was raining incessantly here too, but that didn't stop us from going for a run up the nearby mountain. When we reached the top, we realized that the effort to climb up was worth it. The view from the top of the mountain was fantastic. You could overlook the entire surrounding landscape. We could even see Pumpkin in the parking lot right by the beach.
The next day, we went for a hike along the coast with our English friends. The path led us along steep cliffs, through stock and stone, and despite the continuing rain, we enjoyed the landscape adorned with palm trees and rocks.
We spent the evening with the English people who had invited us for Easter dinner. After enjoying the delicacies, we had one of the funniest game nights I have ever had. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye the next morning as our new friends headed back towards England. We continued on to Parque Natural Cabo de Gata.
