Ruka National Park

ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ: 08.10.2018

Last weekend, some of the Erasmus students were in Ruka, near the Russian border.

We left very early in the morning by bus and arrived after 4 hours.

By the way, we saw a lot of reindeer during the trip, but there are unfortunately no pictures of them. I hope I will have a face-to-face encounter with one of them again 😊

In the national park, we took a 12km hiking route and admired rivers, lakes, and waterfalls, crossed suspension bridges, and climbed 'mountains'. And of course, we enjoyed the sun. Once again, we were lucky to have amazing weather.

We stayed in a total of three huge cottages. First, we saunaed at our cottage (including a singing session; it's now a standard in our sauna) and then we met in another cottage and celebrated a little bit.

Here is the 'living room' of our cottage, there was a fireplace on the other side. On the second picture, Chirsi's and my cute room.

The view in the morning and Philipp having sausages for breakfast.

And here are two demonstrations of possible sleeping positions on the bus 😅

On Sunday, we made a short stop in Ruka itself. There is a real ski resort there and the town looked like an Austrian ski village. However, the weather was not particularly good and our motivation was generally low.

Fortunately, we didn't stay there for long and soon made our way back to Kajaani.

And now, I'm sitting on the train again, heading towards St. Petersburg. So, for the next 5 days, it won't be Finland anymore, but Russia 😊

I'll be in touch soon!
