Tag 0: The Arrival - Let's get started!

To make our lives easier and avoid having to tell the same thing 10000 times (Sorry, not meant personally!) and also to possibly give other globetrotters insights into the lives of two stranded hipsters from the capital city, we have decided, after careful consideration, to start this blog.

Long story short - after leaving Hamburg and a total of 8 hours of flying with a layover in Istanbul, we arrived safely in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

Knowing how relaxed our families are when we find ourselves in some extraordinary country where everyone has to look it up on the map to know where it is, we are of course extremely cautious when we travel.

That's why we chose the friendliest and most trustworthy taxi driver at the airport. In his old clunker, we drove to the city center along with two friendly older Russians. Here, people don't really follow the road markings and for safety reasons prefer to drive somewhere in the middle. You know, just to be safe.

When we arrived at the hostel, we were faced with a barricaded door. At half past 6 in the morning, in freezing cold weather. - Great!

But then, after a few minutes, an older gentleman came and pounded on the roller shutter, which started moving after a short wait. A sleepy hostel employee gave us all the necessary information, and we spent the next few hours until breakfast planning the day and - as it couldn't be any different - sending our first impressions and the reassuring messages to our parents. (That's why the blog 😉)
