Hello from Nusa Penida!
After landing in Bali, I headed straight to Nusa Penida after spending a night there. The island is located southeast of Bali and can be reached by speedboat in about 30 minutes.
Upon arrival, I immediately rented a scooter and drove with all my belongings to my accommodation. I have rented a private room for 3 nights to have some time for myself. For the past 5 weeks, I have been constantly surrounded by people. I am super grateful to have found such wonderful people with whom I can travel together for more than a month, especially considering that they are complete strangers. Of course, many backpackers who come here have similar travel expectations and are often character-wise quite alike. But still, it is special to find someone with whom you click so well that you decide to spend such a long time in close quarters together.
Despite this, I have realized that I (especially after the Komodo tour) just need a break. Being constantly in company means being focused on the outside world all the time. There is a lot of talking and laughing. Therefore, Nusa Penida was a good moment to slow down a bit, focus more on the inside, and recharge my social batteries. Sarah and Caro were also in Nusa Penida, but we all felt the need to be alone, so each did their own thing, and sometimes we met for dinner together.
The days in Nusa Penida were therefore very calm; I spent a lot of time reading, sleeping, and relaxing. On one day, I went to the most famous beach on the island; for some, the picture might look familiar. I went there early in the morning because it can get quite crowded. However, I managed to avoid the crowds, and there were only 10 people present with me. The cove was, of course, beautiful—the blue water meeting the white, untouched sandy beach!
The remaining days were filled with a massage ;) hanging by the pool and watching sunsets on the beach.
The time truly did me good, and I realized how much I needed to just be for myself!
After Nusa Penida, I will be heading to Bali to spend my last 8 days there.
