The Whitsunday Islands

That was one of the absolute highlights of our Australia trip: sailing by catamaran to the Whitsunday Island. We set off early in the morning, the cheerful crew welcomed each of the approximately 50 participants on board, and our skipper safely took us out of the harbor.

Shortly afterwards, the crew hoisted the sails and we swiftly moved forward accompanied only by the sound of the wind.

We passed by other islands of the Whitsunday Island group until we finally anchored in a bay of the largest one. From there, we were taken to the shore by small dinghies, and after a short walk over the hill, we were able to get a first view of the famous Whitehaven Beach from above.

Once we reached the beach, we had plenty of time to swim, take photos, or simply lie in the sand.

It wasn't completely empty everywhere...

...but it is spread out on this wide and white beach.

Back on the ship, the crew had prepared a delicious barbecue and salads for us, so we could strengthen ourselves once again before snorkeling in the reef. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to develop the pictures taken there yet, so there are no photos of the underwater world.

On the way back, we ended this fantastic day lying on the "trampoline net" on the front deck, enjoying chilled drinks and a beautiful sunset. It couldn't get any better...!
