In the western part of the historical old town of Taierzhuang lies a large estate known as 'Dayamen' (Government Office of the Imperial Central Administration). It was built in the 22nd year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (Qing Dynasty) in 1683 and was used as a command post. The entire estate has four courtyards, which are oriented to the south. In early 1938, Shen Honglie, the deputy commander of the 3rd Army Group, established a weapons depot here. Today, it hosts an exhibition showcasing representations of ancient archaeological finds of stone inscriptions.
A little further south, right by the Imperial Canal, Emperor Wanli (Ming Dynasty) had a office building constructed in 1606 during his 34th year of reign. An official from the central government managed the bureaucratic affairs of the canal there. Today, there is a small exhibition on canal economy. After the building was used by the government, the old dock by the canal was occupied by the Yan family.
