März in Melbourne

ପ୍ରକାଶିତ |: 29.03.2019

At the risk of repeating ourselves - another month has passed. March has brought us a lot of everyday life with work, cozy and fun evenings at home, where we amused ourselves, among other things, about the daily new formation of a hair in our washbasin, and delicious food.

Mathias has taken over the kitchen at Cafe 'Ten Tables', changed the menu, and is slowly getting used to waking up early. He looks back positively on his time at Vue de Monde, especially since his colleagues seem to miss him and even come to visit him at his new workplace. Lea continues to work mainly with one client and is getting more and more bored with the lack of challenges in her daily work, she also has some questions and suggestions, but no framework to bring them up. But it is still a good way to earn money and it is not forever...

Mathias made his first attempt at pottery to possibly one day create his own dishes for his own restaurant. And Lea has adorned her knee with a new tattoo.

Mid-month, we had the pleasure of seeing a newfound friend of ours in the play 'Spring Awakening'. That was really great.

And at the end of the month, a big highlight awaited us. After waiting for three months, our reservation at the restaurant Attica was finally confirmed. Attica is considered the best restaurant in Australia and one of the best in the world. Of course, such accolades are highly subjective, but it was still worth checking it out. The restaurant focuses on the diversity of Australian products. So, in the 16 courses, we not only had ingredients like kangaroo, crocodile, or ants, but also native plants like finger limes, quandongs, or bunya bunya. Sometimes very puristic, sometimes with great craftsmanship, but all lovingly and deliciously presented in a very unpretentious atmosphere. It was a funny moment when we were led to the backyard for the last course, where Chef Ben Shewry himself served us a burger grilled over an open flame. And since we had already spent a good amount of money on this experience, we treated ourselves to a beverage pairing that included both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. One highlight was an extremely refreshing cold-smoked apple juice. About 3 1/2 hours later, it was all over. But the memory will likely last a long time.

And finally, the most important realization of the month: Duck=money
