Basel Tattoo 2017

after the great experience at the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh and my son living in Switzerland, I went to Basel Tattoo with my son in July. A must for every Swiss person - my son told me it's like a national holiday in Switzerland.

Traveling by train is relatively cheap thanks to the Eurail pass, and you definitely arrive more relaxed than after a long car journey.

During the day, my son showed me around Basel, a beautiful city, and we had amazing weather that was almost too hot to keep walking. We constantly saw people swimming in the Rhine River, but unfortunately we didn't have our swimwear... sniff.

In the evening at the Tattoo, it was still very hot... great atmosphere in the barracks and the illuminations were amazing. The introduction by the host is already great... first all 26 cantons of Switzerland are called and greeted, then various countries in Europe, America, Asia, etc...
