January 20, 2024 sea day

I woke up around 2:00 a.m. that night. The ship rolled and pitched and all I could see through my window was swirling water. According to the captain, the waves were six to seven meters high.

I liked that. This is how I imagined an ocean voyage would be. I rocked myself to sleep and didn't wake up until around 7 a.m.

I then read on Facebook that some of my fellow travelers hadn't found the rough seas that great. They reported doors and drawers opening. Freshwater sailors!

After breakfast, I spent an hour in the covered pool, which I had all to myself.

In addition to the beautiful but deserted landscape of Chile, I also saw a lecture about the animals of Central and South America.

Otherwise the day was relaxed and without any notable events.
