Day 36: Kampong Glam - The Arab Quarter

ପ୍ରକାଶିତ |: 01.05.2019

Today we went shopping again. Since we didn't buy anything during our first shopping tour, but I (Flo) really needed a new pair of shorts, we went back to the Orchard Ion shopping mall. Interestingly, after just one month, the pants no longer fit me, so I need a belt for almost all of them, which could use a new hole by now. Luckily, we already knew where we would find a suitable pair of shorts - or so we thought. Nevertheless, we got lost and ended up in the wrong shopping mall first, as we were no longer sure which store we were looking for. When we finally had the desired pair of shorts in our bag, we continued to the MRT and went to the Arab Quarter. There we could admire the Sultan Mosque, the largest mosque in Singapore. Fortunately, we were there at the right time and could listen to the chants of the Muezzin. We strolled through the streets and here too we were captivated by the Arabic flair, which made us feel like we were in a different country. On one corner, colorful carpets were being sold, next to it was a lamp shop, and on the other corner was a flower shop. We passed by some cute restaurants and cafes that invited us to linger. We also visited a very special cafe that was nearby. In the selfie cafe, you can order a coffee on which a picture of yourself is printed using a kind of sugar paste. To do this, you simply take the available smartphone to take a selfie of yourself when placing your order. After enjoying the delicious rainbow cake and the coffee with our selfie, we headed back to our accommodation.
