Chiang Mai and Pai

To extend our visa, we had to take a smuggler boat to Myanmar first.

After that, we flew to the north of Thailand: to Chiang Mai.

From there, we embarked on an adventurous journey to Pai. The route is 130km through the mountains and includes over 700 curves, which Eike mastered like a hero with our rented scooter.

Upon arrival in Pai, we were greeted by a beautiful mountain landscape, which, combined with the temperatures, made us feel like we were in the Alps rather than in Thailand. In the small cozy town, there is a lot to do: we walked on traditional bamboo bridges over rice fields, climbed Pai Canyon for the sunset, and visited a breathtaking stalactite cave. There is also an amazing food market in Pai. Our accommodation was once again very basic, but the cute owner (an old grandma who constantly spoke to us in Thai) and her talking bird, who chattered all day long, made it something very special.

After a few days, we made our way back to Chiang Mai to continue our journey to Kuala Lumpur from there.
