Sawadee,
I don't know about you, but I have had a slight grin on my face the whole time 'I feel be Free it´s all so Lucky' it is really great here in Laos. The last 2 days, as I already announced, we went down the Mekong River by boat for 400 km. On both days, we traveled 6 hours from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang with a stopover in Pakpeng.
Check-in on the boat was at 10 o'clock, where the atmosphere was calm (but not tense). A short time later, Charly came on board. Charly is American and should change the atmosphere, he greeted everyone loudly ( Like American Syle ) and entertained the whole boat, so the atmosphere was broken and we had a lot to laugh about. Finally, we started at around 11:30 after waiting for 1.5 hours in Huay Xai (waiting doesn't matter because we have time, and here the clocks run slower ;-) ) and we arrived in Pakpeng around 18 in the evening twilight.
This is just a small Laotian village on the Mekong River, which is overrun by a few tourists every evening, but it was still relaxed. After a good half hour, everyone was distributed in the hotels and met again in the many small restaurants.
On the 2nd day, we went on the boat early at 8 o'clock and again we had to wait until 10:30 when the engine started and a loud murmur went through the masses ( applause, applause ) by today, almost everyone on deck knew each other, we talked a lot, it was simply great.
In conclusion, this boat tour is really recommendable, you see a beautiful landscape passing you by, and despite many people, you can relax very well. Around 5 o'clock, we reached our destination. Luang Prabang or not directly LP but about 10 km before the city gates (apparently it used to go straight to Luang Prabang) there everything went quite well organized and fast. The boat was cleared, then we went to the ticket counter, into a tuk-tuk and off to the center of Luang Prabang. ' Thats It ! :-)
