20.12.2018 Kalahari Anib Lodge

ପ୍ରକାଶିତ |: 27.12.2018

We left the somewhat 'cool' Hardap Camp and drove through the small town of Mariental

towards the red dunes of the Kalahari. Arriving at the Kalahari Anib Lodge, we were greeted with the complete opposite of the previous day. The lodge impresses with its rustic, modern, cozy, relaxed atmosphere and facilities. We were warmly welcomed with a welcome drink and joyfully soaked up the atmosphere.

After a chill afternoon by the pool and at the bar, we decided against another game drive and instead just wanted to be driven to the sundowner. It started around 6 pm, but what awaited us in the next 2 hours was incredible.

Our driver Fanselina turned out to be very funny. She explained the plant and animal life to us and told great stories about the life of the bushmen. Without high expectations, we continued driving and what we didn't plan as a game drive turned out to be the opposite. We saw wild hares, springboks, ostriches, zebras, oryx, giraffes, even a herd of wildebeests ran directly alongside us and crossed our path - we were fascinated!! The highlight was on a red dune of the Kalahari. Fanselina opened the perfect Kalahari bar for us in the middle of the dune. The atmosphere was joyful and the sunset with bare feet in the red sand was fantastic. With the onset of dusk, we packed up and drove back to the lodge. On the way back, we saw some animals again and a small spoon hound family with 3 young animals - cute J

Back at the lodge, we took a seat on the terrace and during dinner in a quiet atmosphere, animals again joined us at a waterhole. Zebras, a baby springbok, and a warthog accompanied our evening - perfect.

Tomorrow we will continue to Sossuvlei to the Desert Camp for 2 nights - we are excited.
