Coromandel

I start early in the morning, at 06:30 I roll off the campground and follow the coastal road towards Coromandel. Curve follows curve, with a few straight meters in between, always along the shore...then a small pass and I'm already in Coromandel, a small settlement with many beautiful wooden houses. At the next beach section, I take a breakfast break and then continue along the coastal road. Actually, you should stop at every bay, take the kayak off the roof of the car and go for a little paddle. In Hahei, I park the car at the entrance to the village and hike 45 minutes to Cathedral Cove, a tunnel created by erosion on the beach. Along the way, there are really beautiful houses, and some residents make good use of the parking ban here. A few kilometers further, another highlight, the Hot Water Beach. At low tide, hot water bubbles out of the sandy beach, and small pools are dug with a spade and used for bathing. The sign is justified, by the way, it was really hot. The destination for the day is Tauranga, I hike up Mount Maunganui and enjoy the view, but that's it for today.
