October 5th: Thursday
Sven and I both agree 100% that we ate the best pizza ever today. We found these in Palau at Il Ghiottone and only by chance. I selected the first pizzeria that came to mind on Google and it turned out to be a hit. I chose a capricciosa (without ham, of course) and Sven chose a vegetarian pizza with eggplant, zucchini and peppers and even without toppings it would have been the tastiest pizza I've ever eaten.
The fact that Michel felt after the first piece of pizza that he now needed to be entertained and carried around didn't surprise us and didn't diminish the joy of eating. To be honest, we were perhaps a bit tired and we hadn't timed our nap and lunch ideally. But that is easier said than done. Michel usually has a similar daily and sleeping rhythm, but of course not today. Who would have thought. Sven and I took turns entertaining the babies so everyone could enjoy their food “in peace”.
Since we wanted to have lunch in Palau today, the breakfast was small and Sven only treated himself to a handful of grapes. Dinner in Italy is currently not possible with Michel because he is put to bed at 7 p.m. and the Italians usually don't open their doors before 6:30 p.m. Sometimes a real problem for us Germans.
After Sven went for a run and Michel and I washed and hung up a huge mountain of laundry (Michel is largely responsible for the amount) we set off to explore the city. We had a 10 minute walk ahead of us and despite the proximity we were happy to see a few veiled clouds in the sky. We didn't expect too much, but Palau is enough for a short stroll and after a few days on the beach it was nice to go for a walk again.
At 12 sharp we were standing in front of the restaurant in question and we weren't the only guests. A few other Germans did the same.
After this wonderful culinary experience, we headed to the beach and spent the rest of the afternoon there. The wind was significantly less and we were both able to swim a bit again while one or two fish crossed our path - or ours, as you take it.
Michel didn't need much sleep today and we were both happy when he started rubbing his eyes promptly at 7 p.m. Having fun with a baby isn't easy at all and I wouldn't even say it's demanding.
As a good baby should, he fell asleep after a few minutes and Sven and I met again in front of the camper, me with my laptop on my lap and him with a book in his hand - both with the sound of the sea in their ears in the background .
