After our island tour, we have now arrived back in the surf city of Kuta and decided to do another tour.
This time we went to the neighboring island of Nusa Penida (although the tour was on the verge of literally falling into the water, as I lost the tickets for the tour and the return transport on the speedboat... 🤦🏽♀️). Fortunately, the tour guide recognized us even without a ticket and we were able to go on the tour to the beautiful beaches on the west coast of Nusa Penida. ✔️😎
The first stop was at Broken Beach, where we had a fantastic view from the cliffs and thanks to our eagle eyes, we even saw a school of dolphins . 🐬
The next beach could also be seen from a cliff and was reached by a steep 2-hour walk downhill (which we didn't manage due to the weather (34°C☀️🌡️)...).
Our last beach was Crystal Beach, where, as the name suggests, we could snorkel and swim in crystal clear, turquoise sea. The first bay with little 'Nemo' fish :)
Today we discovered a cheap motorbike app and had ourselves driven to a turtle conservation center.
On the drive from the city center to the harbor area, we were able to observe the different living conditions of the Balinese people and the sight of the poverty in the villages (with neglected animals, undernourished people, and street children living among mountains of plastic waste) made us think...
At the turtle station, we discovered the animals with German volunteers, some of which are threatened with extinction due to local fishing, ceremonies, and plastic waste. The highlight of our trip was feeding the baby turtles, which we named Hildegard (~Jojos) and Sonja. Unfortunately, we couldn't adopt and release our baby turtles as no eggs were laid at the moment. 🥬🐢
