...and how beautiful are the dunes in Holland !!!

Dear friends,

after covering about 2500 km of our Germany round trip, we are slowly heading towards Southern Baden.

The past few weeks we have been traveling through the scenic and picturesque country of Holland. We have met very nice people, had mixed but beautiful weather, admired beautiful cities, hung out in the bus, and explored beautiful landscapes.

Mahin and I had a dear friend from Berlin accompanying us on the trip.

The journey began in northern Friesland with its very relaxed and decelerated people. After exploring the eastern coastline, we drove to the university town of Leeuwarden in Friesland to spend the weekend in a chill atmosphere (there was a festival in the city).

Somehow, as urbanites, we missed the city air.

We settled down for the weekend at a centrally located camper van parking space next to three young Bavarian boys and explored the city and other stuff with them. On the last day, we were greeted by the self-proclaimed "Brasilien Jack Sparrow" on our parking lot, who, like the Bavarians, had come to the local Psy-Fi Festival in Leeuwarden. By the way, his Colombian wife lovingly called him "Pirata" (pirate).

We then drove from the northern IJsselmeer to the unknown and beautiful landscape of the Dutch dunes. We were totally overwhelmed by their size, vastness, and the colorful variety of the dunes.
We are now fans of the dunes :)

After spending several days by the sea and along the coast, we leisurely headed to Utrecht.

Before we arrived in Utrecht, we got stuck on a lake plate. We stayed overnight on a narrow strip of land between two lakes.

In Holland's cultural capital Utrecht, we ended our very relaxed vacation. A beautiful manageable university town south of Amsterdam, which also has beautiful canals and canal houses with lots of culture and history to offer. Highly recommended.

We were fortunate to have a friend of a friend who has been living there for 16 years and introduced us to the city and his favorite places with great dedication.

After two days in Holland's fourth largest city, Mahin and I headed to Germany, where we will visit friends in Westerwald and Freiburg.
