Hi guys,
what a day yesterday. Everything was idyllic, waking up together because of the rising sun in pleasant cold. When we went out of the van a little later to make the first coffee, we only saw a small note sticking under our windshield wiper. Unknowingly, we read the note and couldn't believe our eyes, it said that we have to pay an immediate fine of $200 for leaving a dirty place. Our first reaction was of course a quick look around our car. What we noticed didn't improve the whole situation. We noticed that there was no litter at all around our car.. Except for our tied-up trash bag that we didn't want to have in the car because of open tuna cans and had placed under the car, everything was sparkling clean. Shocked by this audacity, we immediately went to the police. Actually, we knew that we were at the wrong address here, as we received the fine from the "Queenstown City Administration" and not from the police, but it was worth a try in our eyes. Wrong thought, we were quickly sent out of the police station again due to "incompetence". For us, this meant that what we hoped to prevent, namely that we have to stay in the city until Monday morning to be able to go to the responsible office, was true. So the day started out great.. To digest the whole situation, we went to "Fergburger". This is the most famous burger place in all of New Zealand, 'zig meters long queues, relatively high prices, but luckily absolutely awesome burgers! The burger truly brightened up our day and the fine was completely forgotten for a short moment. We spent the afternoon at the laundromat and then went to the campsite, where we went for a swim and dried our laundry.
Today, we drove to "Glenorchy", a super nice little town in the middle of nowhere, from where we went to "Isengard". "Lord of the Rings fans" will know what I'm talking about! The road was bumpy and the bumpiest road I have ever driven on and even crossed rivers at the end, we really laughed a lot!😂
After a quick lunch, we drove back to "Queenstown" and made a short stop for a swim on the way. Now we are standing on a campsite in the middle of the city and we can actually leave our trash bag outside the car here. In the evening, I think we'll go back to town and have a few beers!
Greetings from Queenstown, New Zealand!🇳🇿
Your Tim!😊
