And once again: please stop time!!! ⏳ Our journey on the South Island is now over and we look back with a smiling and a crying eye. We had an incredibly exciting time with so many impressions that we will probably still be busy processing them in years to come. But now it's time to go back to the North Island to our final destinations in Wellington, Rotorua, Matamata, Tauranga and Auckland.

17/03/2018: After two relaxing days in Christchurch with almost no buses, and after a short night, we found ourselves on the bus again. We can't handle it very well anymore, it was just too much in the past few weeks. But oh well, it had to be done! 😅 The view is still beautiful and compensates for a lot.

We arrived in Nelson around 3:00 p.m. Nelson is the first larger place on the South Island when you arrive from Wellington in Picton by ferry. At first, we were positively surprised by our hostel called "Paradiso". It had a large outdoor area with a pool, palm trees, hammocks, and a volleyball court.

We lay in the sun and recovered from the journey before we had free soup at the hostel in the evening. 😊 Our room is also pretty crazy, we have to climb a ladder to get to our bed, or rather our mattress - very adventurous!

Everything else in the hostel is not so nice. It's very dirty, it smells weird everywhere, and the mattresses weren't particularly comfortable either. But you can manage anywhere for one night! 😉
After dinner, we walked to the sea again, but unfortunately, it wasn't there at the time. 😅 Nevertheless, we sat on the rocks in the tidal flats and enjoyed the sunset before we made ourselves as comfortable as possible in our berth.

18/03/2018: This morning, we walked to the bus stop with our luggage for 20 minutes. Why do we always choose accommodations that are not near the bus stop? 😄 Well, at least we got some exercise and could take a closer look at Nelson. Some houses here are so beautiful!
We took the bus to Picton, where we had over an hour's time after checking in for the ferry, so we lay down on a meadow in the harbor and stretched our legs. 🙂

The ferry ride was beautiful, despite the good weather we sat in the ferry cinema and watched the movie "The Greatest Showman". And we both cried a lot because we were so moved by the music. 😄 So the journey passed by quickly! Afterwards, we got back on the bus for a short time and we're already back in Wellington. It's crazy that the city feels a bit familiar just because we've been here before! We're trying to prepare ourselves as best as we can for our mammoth journey that awaits us tomorrow. We've never had to ride the bus continuously for as long as tomorrow. Let's see how it goes! 😉
Best wishes and please continue to work hard to clear the snow! 💛
