Hey folks,
I must admit, the weather today was just a tiny bit better than yesterday... but not really much. So, one can rightfully say that Aunt Weather Fairy has tricked us today.
It all started so promising... with a beautiful sunrise and it was dry. So we decided to drive to Kilchurn Castle. Well, what can I say... on the way there, it started to rain again. We still had drizzle when we arrived. So we quickly took a few gloomy photos and decided to head to Drovers Inn to devise new plans over a coffee. The Drovers Inn is a hotel/bar, and the building has been standing since 1750. The bar is super cozy with... swords, shields, pistols, stuffed animals (not really my thing), old tartans, and pictures. It’s incredibly cozy, and the people are super nice.
So, over coffee, we decided to drive to the Falls of Falloch and then pay a visit to Callander. Furthermore, we are determined to visit Kilchurn Castle again when the weather is better. This castle is just a born photo model!
The Falls of Falloch is a waterfall and the 'local beauty spot' of the River Falloch. Since we only managed to get there around noon, the mini parking lot was completely overcrowded, and parking was a challenge for Mr. Fü, which he handled with grace and calm... even though I was sitting in the passenger seat :o). There are currently an insane number of people traveling with their camper vans... or it just seems more noticeable to us here in the Lowlands. We never saw that many campervans in the Highlands.
So, hiking boots on, and off to the Falls of Falloch. The hike is very short, and we quickly reached our destination. This waterfall is really beautiful, even though it seems quite small, it makes quite a noise. After we had our fill of looking and listening, Mr. Fü elegantly glided off the parking lot, and we continued on to Callander.
Callander is considered the town where the Highlands meet the Lowlands. A nice little place. There are some nice little shops on the 'main street,' and among other things... hold on to your hats, you won't believe it... a shop just for Christmas stuff. Of course, I dragged poor Mr. Fü in there, and there is soooo much glitter and bling. :o)))) Don’t be shocked when you see the photos. What I always find fascinating is that there are still Scots who really walk around in kilts in everyday life. Awesome!
After strolling through Callander (of course in the rain), we drove back towards the hotel. On the way back, we visited Hamish Dubh, Honey, and Baxter, who live at the Trossach Wooden Mill. And of course, it was still drizzling.....
When we later arrived at the hotel, it stopped raining, and it remained that way for the whole evening..... And now, no one should tell me that the weather witch... err... fairy had nothing to do with it... pöh!
I wish you all a lovely evening and chì mi thu a dh' aithghearr (see you soon)!
