Let's go...

We have been on the campsite in Medulin for a week now. Medulin is the southernmost city in Istria. Lots of wind and lots of sun, just right for the windsurfers and kiteboarders who usually search for their waves here. A bike trip, a trip with Theo south of Pula. I worked on my magnetic wall. Now all the memories I collect on the trip can be pinned here.

On Wednesday, 24.03., our journey continued, now it was time to camp wild for a few days.

We drove along the Istrian coast in the east back north. Here, there were a few "Oh shit, it's high" moments. Certainly not an easy task for anyone with a fear of heights... :D For everyone else, it was a dream of vastness. We stopped in between to take great photos of nature. We slept in Lovran in a parking lot. To see the beautiful sunrise, I had to wake up at 6:30 am... who knows.. not my time, but it was beautiful and we could continue driving early.

We only passed through Rijeka. We wanted to avoid big cities and also, the city was not recommended. So we went straight to the island of Krk. From a distance, you could already see the bridge: "Oh God, I can see it already," I heard next to me. It looked really monstrous. When we drove over it, the fear was unfounded.

We went to a small bay and had breakfast there. Then we looked around, a small pier and many abandoned houses. We continued to Porat, where we found a great bay on the internet. So, we saddled our horses and went there. Fantastic. When Chris tested his neoprene and we sat comfortably on the beach, a snorkel unexpectedly appeared from the water, holding a harpoon. A short moment of fear :D and on his back, he carried a giant octopus. Apparently a hobby of the Croats,... fishing and hunting! Back on the bike towards Theo, got lost twice, 6km can be very long. In Croatia, there are no straight roads either, either you go uphill for minutes and downhill for minutes. Ugh!

We slept in Malinska at a small harbor. Small cafes and restaurants adorned the ambiance. We slept relatively peacefully and drove on the next day to Krk, the city on the island. Since tourism here is not yet "open", I unfortunately couldn't browse the shops either. The shops were all closed, only the cafes and restaurants by the water were open. Small but beautiful old town. On to Punat, again a huge harbor and a parking lot just for us. So peaceful. The night was better, but the weather wasn't, so we hung out in the bus. Then we drove off the island to the next mini village, Jadranovo. A short walk and then dinner. 2 Berlin girls fished here for a good 9 hours :D

It drizzled lightly at night and cars kept passing by to inspect their boats. A spectacle, as we noticed at every harbor.

Today, Sunday, we are staying in a small camp, Meissner to the right of us. The bay is only for campers. Since I finally wanted to wash my hair... well, there's only cold water at the moment. I had to go through with it :)

Starting tomorrow, it will be up to 20 degrees Celsius .... yipieehhh
