After the first successful day in the capital, a second one followed. This one also started relaxed and then turned into a lot of running around. We visited the Capitol, which is impressively located at the beginning of the National Mall. After that, we walked on a green strip towards the Washington Monument and then turned towards the White House. It was smaller than expected and not nearly as impressive as hoped. Unfortunately, we couldn't visit it from the inside because we are not US citizens. We would have had to speak at the embassy at least 21 days in advance. So we trudged back to the hostel and opted for a little more exercise. In the evening, we treated ourselves to a 16-inch (40cm) sandwich and an ice cream afterwards. The highlight of the day was definitely the episode of the series we were watching, because a little boy witnessed a murder and he was supposed to describe the perpetrator to the police. When the composite sketch was finished, it was Jesus.

Good night and goodbye!
