In Whangarei, one house in particular stands out. A tourist told me that he thought it was a mosque. This house is a typical Hundertwasser house, with its dome, its colorful columns, the many different windows, the green roof and the infinite number of tiles.
However, this house is not intended for living. It's an art center. The works that he made during his time in New Zealand are mainly exhibited there. Hundertwasser even designed a flag for New Zealand, which was not intended to replace the actual flag, but to complement it. You can see an unfurling silver fern: Koru Flag.
In the Hundertwasser Art Center you can watch a film about his house in Vienna and of course there is also the green roof with plants and trees.
