Adelaide (the Thuringian)

I have to admit, after Melbourne didn't really pick me up, I was worried about how Adelaide would turn out. Am I just completely oversaturated or have I already seen everything? But I was immediately impressed by Adelaide! The city center is surrounded by a wide green belt. In the center there are again many old houses and also new houses, but no high-rise buildings. The city center is laid out on a chessboard principle and between the large streets there are always small one-way streets that are very lovingly designed, with plants, seating, cafes, restaurants...

There are many sculptures in the city center, such as 4 life-sized pigs in the pedestrian zone, one pig even rummages in a trash can. Why are they standing there? Well, that's art.

By the way, Adelaide is named after Queen Adelaide. She was born as Adelheid Louise Theresa Caroline Amelia von Sachsen-Meiningen in Meiningen in 1792. From 1830 she was Queen of Great Britain, Ireland and Hanover (Wikipedia). So Adelaide is named after a Thuringian 😀
