And so they set out wisely, on the second part of the journey - Southwest Ireland at Glengarriff

Nadine: We drove from Rosslare to Glengarriff via Cork and now we are staying in a small green cottage on top of the mountain, with a view of Bantry Bay, with an elderly German couple.

From our base, we explore the area and follow the tips of the travel guide or our landlord, who always has a secret tip or a little anecdote from life for us.

We have thrown away our Wwoofing plans for Ireland and decided on idleness and family time - according to the motto: 'Adventure begins when you throw away the plans.'

There is enough adventure in the arrival and letting go, the language barrier, the left-hand traffic, the sea, the vastness, reading in foreign lands...

Time runs here one hour behind and anyways a bit slower. In the morning, we first wait for the first rain shower and then decide when exactly it is worth setting out...

The roads are narrow and winding, the landscape is greener than expected, the summer is cool and humid, sheep and cows everywhere, the prices very high, cottages for sale and the Irish very nice!

Many emigrated Irish people want to return to Ireland after Brexit, and the aging immigrants now sell their properties and houses for a lot of money. Unfortunately too expensive for us!...

Maybe surfing is still to come and the aches and pains are keeping us from the (still) not common paddling trip.
