Kvernes Stave Church - the 'most modern' of the Norwegian stave churches

ପ୍ରକାଶିତ |: 22.07.2020

A little detour to my first stave church was necessary. The one in Kvernes was built in 1633, making it the only one built after the Middle Ages and the Reformation in Norway. The term stave church comes from the fact that staves support the sidewalls.

Because the church was probably too small and it could be saved from demolition, the new church, which is still in use today, stands next to it.
