After 5 km I reached Sarria early in the morning. I already knew that some pilgrims start their journey here. I wasn't aware that it is mass tourism.
Pilgrims kept coming from all corners of Sarria. I had to weave my way through to pass them. Souvenir shops selling stamp books. To get the Compostela, you have to get at least 2 stamps per day from here on the last 100 km. I even met a Russian group from St. Petersburg. It got quieter after 20 km and only the long-term pilgrims were on the way. I saw some dogs and hoped that the accommodations might not be so bad after all. Although I was one of the first in the town and also in the next village. But all places were already reserved by phone and it's difficult with a dog anyway. So today I will sleep outside, in the forest. The dog catcher is making his rounds here and Fiona is scared of the dogs' screams. Today we saw a car passing by with dogs locked in a cage and a dead dog on top of the cage.
Since there are many tourists here, stray dogs are bad for business and are often hunted here.
It's around 4 degrees at night. I will try to get some sleep and when it gets too cold at night, I will start walking. Phone battery is half full. So turn everything off and hopefully continue without the masses of pilgrims tomorrow.
