After a cozy outdoor breakfast at our motel, we first head inland to the Mission Santa Barbara. A type of monastery of the Franciscan Order, built in the Spanish style. We take a few photos, but skip the entrance fee.
We continue our road trip north along the 'Pacific Coast Highway', with our next destination being Morro Bay. When we arrive, suddenly fog rolls in and the temperature drops to only 17°C. Nevertheless, we decide to go for a short hike along the rugged coast. We walk along the cliffs with wonderful views of the rather rough Pacific Ocean, observe numerous different birds, and spy on lizards along the way. (At least Samuel has something to keep him busy, so he doesn't think about whining).
When we return to Morro Bay, even the offshore Morro Rock emerges from the fog. We can even watch the seals playing in the harbor bay in the evening sun.
