Fortunately, the weather changed abruptly behind the Alps. The West Coast was shining in the beautiful sunshine. The route led along the coast towards the north. A few weeks ago, I could only enjoy the view to a limited extent on the bus. Driving this great route by car was really cool!
I enjoyed the ride and took longer breaks. Towards evening, I found a nice campsite right by the sea. The choice fell on 'Gentle Annie', which had just received very good reviews on the internet. You can reach this place via a 7-kilometer gravel road, which I also know well from cycling. This place is situated idyllically between sand dunes. So ends a rather uneventful day.
One note: sometimes you can only evaluate positive points when you have some distance. So far, I have had no contact with locals, this could be a snapshot, but on the bike, there was not a day without personal contact with Kiwis.
