Yesterday we left quite early. Towards Ayers Rock / Uluru. 5 hours drive lay ahead of us, through nowhere. Cars came less and less, the landscape was always the same, but not dry as you imagine it but beautifully green. It is very tiring to drive because it always goes straight, the same landscape and you can only drive 100 km/h.
Occasionally you can see cows or sheep or emus on the roadside. Today we saw a kangaroo and a dingo for the first time after what felt like an eternity. Finally, we arrived at the entrance to the Uluru National Park. The first view of Uluru was simply indescribable. I didn't expect it to be so big and red. We went for a little hike there and looked at everything and then we headed towards the campsite. For a change, we treated ourselves to a meal at the restaurant...
Today we drove towards Alice Springs, where we did some shopping and looked around a bit, and then we continued towards the campground. The search for a campground was a bit difficult as the free ones looked like a parking lot right by the roadside and the other ones didn't look inviting. Luckily, we found a nice and quiet camping spot.
