#Tag 30: Chiang Mai

Maxxanfame: 09.02.2018

Since yesterday we have been in the capital of the North - Chiang Mai. Here too, the city layout, like in Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, is influenced by the Siamese era. A rectangular, partly very well-preserved city wall surrounds the old town area. This area is also characterized by countless temple complexes. We visited the 'most important' ones today.

These include:

Wat Chiang Man - the oldest temple in Chiang Mai (1296)

Anusawari Sam Kasat - a bronze monument of the three kings, which is intended to remind of the alliance of Phaya Ngam Meuang from Phayao, Phaya Mengrai from Chiang Mai, and Phaya Khun Ramkhamhaeng from Sukhothai.

Wat Inthakhin Saduemuang - originally the city pillar (Lak Meuang) was kept here

Wat Chedi Luang - built in 1441

Wat Phan Tao - a temple made of teak wood, which is said to be the most atmospheric Wat in the entire old town

Wat Phra Singh - the most revered temple in Chiang Mai
