Start! :)
Start! :)

Today we had to cover a distance. Necessary evil. At least the weather was ideal: dry, hardly any wind, and neither too hot nor too cold.

We started from Nuremberg on the highway to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and from there to Innsbruck and via the Old Brenner Road to Italy. On the way there, we were able to clarify whether the remaining range display on our new motorcycle is reliable. I can already reveal: It is not! While I blindly trusted the technology and left one gas station after another on the German side, Steffi slowly became nervous with less than 30 km of remaining range. And with good reason, as it would soon turn out! Already about five kilometers before the border, there were the first engine failures. And in Mittenwald, the border town, the engine stuttered so much that I was pretty sure I would have to push the last few hundred meters to the gas station. But we were lucky. With the very last drop of gasoline, we stumbled into the first Austrian gas station. Note to self: "In the future, maybe possibly refuel a little earlier!"

In Italy, we had firmly decided to treat ourselves to a proper espresso. In Brenner-Ort, a few meters after the border stone on the Italian side, we immediately got the long-awaited highly caffeinated hot drink. Ahhhh, what a pleasure!

With this strengthened, we tackled the first pass of the trip. Until then, I had not personally experienced the Jaufen Pass and I must say that it is really fun with the motorcycle! Recommended for imitation.

In order to watch our national football team's game, we finished work quite early today and looked for a hotel in St. Leonhard in Passeier. By the way, our thanks of the day go to the inventor of soundproof windows. Only thanks to this facility can we hope to have a restful night despite the wild stream rushing past right under our balcony with infernal noise. In my opinion, they could slowly turn off that thing. I'll call the reception...
