Today it happened, after 1540 km the first flat tire. Rear tire, of course! On one of our coveted gravel tracks, a 💩thorn sneaked through the tire, causing it to go flat. (you can see the thorn quite well in the photos, small thing, big impact). The rear tire itself is not that bad, if it weren't for the gearing. So I had to take off the gears, and then put them back on. It was at this point that it got difficult and I couldn't get them back on properly, so I couldn't shift properly for a while. In the meantime, I've fiddled with it enough that it looks pretty good now. Otherwise, today's tour was very nice, not as exhausting as the previous tours, we cycled nicely and arrived at our destination in the early afternoon, where we are staying in a very nice hotel with air conditioning, phew! We don't know what the Spaniards are celebrating, but for days they've been celebrating in every village, and also here, the brass band mercilessly goes up and down the main street. Hopefully they will get tired by tonight.
We have decided how to proceed, tomorrow we will cycle to Gudalajara, then they will go on the train, we will too, and then we will unpack them in Cordoba. Then we have skipped the Mancha with its 42° and will cycle from Cordoba to Sevilla to Huelva, which is another 240 km, so 4 days of cycling at 60 km each. This morning we moved our ferry from September 2nd forward by a week to next week Saturday, August 26th, so that we will arrive in Arrecife on Sunday afternoon, August 27th. It's good that we realized beforehand that we need to go to Huelva instead of Cádiz, because we had booked from Huelva 😁😂😂😂. But most importantly, we have moved it forward by 1 week so that we have another week in Lanzarote. After all, Lanzarote is also part of this adventure trip. Because on September 4th, we have to go back to Cologne.
